The Crusaders hoopsters had games at most levels. The 8th grade basketball team won the Rummel 8th Grade Basketball Tournament defeating Jesuit 33-22. St. Augustine 45-29 and Rummel in the championship game 32-23. Tre Swilling and Lamont Berzat were the leading scorers. The team is now 4-0 on the season. The Junior Varsity improved their record to 3-0 as they defeated KIPP Renaissance High School on Saturday 61-43. Drew Lewis had 15 points and Luke Walker scored 11 points.

The Varsity played in the finals of the Allstate Sugar Bowl CYO Tournament against Newman Saturday night.  With 40 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter Cornish hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key giving the Crusaders a nine point lead. But in the 4th quarter Newman tied the score at 52-52 to force overtime.  In overtime with Newman leading 56-55 Beront Boudreaux hit a turn-around jumper giving Brother Martin a one-point lead, 57-56.  On Newman’s final possession with five seconds to go, they shot a hurried 18-foot jumper that barely chipped the rim but were able to get the rebound and score the game winning shot as time-expired. Jordan Cornish was named to the All-Tournament team. The Varsity now has a 6-1 record and will take part in the Newman Tournament beginning on Wednesday against Cohen High School.
