Ten of the best rising high school seniors in baseball from Louisiana, including three from the metro New Orleans area, are at the Metrodome in Minneapolis for the next five days taking part in the Perfect Game National Showcase.

The Perfect Game National Showcase has become the most prestigious showcase event in all of amateur baseball. In the 2012 draft, 22 high school players from the 2011 showcase were selected in the first and supplemental first round rounds, including the first overall pick, Carlos Correa. Nine other former National Showcase attendees were drafted in those rounds from the college ranks. Aside from the level of talent, what really sets the National Showcase apart is that it is held at the beginning of the summer, not at the end, like other national-level showcases, which gives scouts and college coaches their first concentrated look at the best that class has to offer. The National Showcase also serves as the last and most important step in the All-American selection process, which includes the top rising high school seniors in the country
