Crusader Rugby Defense Gives Brother Martin the Win

DSC03122Brother Martin defeated Mississippi Rugby 32-3 in Gautier Mississippi on Saturday. After a slow start, The Crusaders broke the ice with a penalty kick from Quinn Condon to make the score 3-0 after 15 minutes of play. Brother Martin then put together 12 minutes of solid performance and scored three tries and one conversion. Bruce Cuccia scored two with Nick Williams scoring the other while Quinn Condon hit one of his three conversion attempts. However, going into the half, the Crusaders gave up a penalty and allowed Mississippi to get on the board at the halftime whistle with a score of 20-3.

The second half was more of the same for the Crusader ruggers. Paul Paternostro who came on in reserve in the second half led the Crusaders with several hard charging runs. The Crusaders were able to score two tries in the second half; one each by Joey Morris and Jeremy Vathy with Quinn Condon connecting on one conversion bringing the Crusaders to victory with a the final score to 32-3.

The Brother Martin rugby team improved to 6-1 in league play and will host White Station from Memphis at Pan Am Stadium Saturday at noon.
