The Brother Martin Leadership Academy held its first workshop this past weekend on campus. Student leaders arrived Friday evening and spent the night in the St. Aloysius Gym as a group. On Friday evening, the students were fortunate to hear an outstanding talk from Blair Barbier ‘96 on his perspective as a leader. Following his presentation, Commander Bruce Nolan ‘90 USN (Ret.) organized a military-style scavenger hunt, where the students had to work together as teams to master the exercise. Friday night’s workshop ended with our Crusaders discussing and reenacting real-life scenarios.
On Saturday morning, the United States Marine Corps (USMC) greeted the students bright and early with a wake-up call at 5 a.m. The day began with physical training and team building events. The morning ended with leadership and team-building workshops hosted by the USMC.
“I was completely impressed with the participation from our student leaders. These young men demonstrated many of the qualities that make great leaders. This was a great beginning to our Leadership Academy and I am looking forward to our next event,” said Coach Robbie Dauterive ‘84.
