This past Saturday, the Crusader JVB Lacrosse team played two games at Friendship Capitol in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Crusaders went 1-1 on the day. In their first game versus Acadian (Lafayette), the Crusaders came out strong. With the help of great defensive play and good offensive ball movement, the game stayed neck and neck. The game ended in a 5-5 tie and opted for a 1v1 braveheart. After a great save by the Acadiana goalie, Dixon Pickering ‘22 hurried back to the defensive end of the field where he was able to strip the ball. Goalie Tommy Maggio ‘22 picked up the ball and went down the field to score the winning goal for the Crusaders and ending the game at 6-5. In the second game, the Crusaders fell early to a very talented Baton Rouge team. Baton Rouge came out fast, scoring 3 quick goals. The whole game was a major defensive showing on both ends of the ball. Even with a late goal from the Crusaders, they were unable to overcome the deficit and fell to Baton Rouge 7-1.
