Crusader Campers Enjoy Basketball Camp

As part of another busy and successful summer, Brother Martin welcomed campers from the greater New Orleans area and out of town for two sessions of basketball camps. Crusader campers had fun executing drills and learning basketball techniques that would enhance their skills and strengthen their game, both mentally and physically.

During the first session, coaches Jeff Lupo ’92, Tommy Smith ’71, Jimmy Gatti, and Jason George assisted head varsity basketball coach, Chris Biehl, for this camp. During the second session, coaches Jeff Lupo ’92  andTommy Smith ’71 returned to the court along with coach Brad Duplechain.

Members of the Brother Martin basketball team and fellow student volunteers also worked with the campers, boys ranging in age from 6 to 13 years old. New and returning campers were eager to absorb new and long-standing fundamentals of the game, and activities included three on three games, five on five games, free throw challenges, and a hot shot contest. On the final day of the camps, campers participated in a basketball special performance and in an awards ceremony including a sportsmanship award.

Thanks to the Brother Martin basketball program and the Athletics Department for two great sessions of basketball camp!
