Brother Martin shut the door early on John Ehret, scoring eight runs in the first three innings to capture a 10-0 victory on Tuesday at Kirsch-Rooney.
Ten Crusaders went to bat in the second inning, pounding out five hits and six runs. Greg Deichmann ripped a leadoff single, and Owen Magee followed with a shot down the left-field line. After a sacrifice bunt attempt that turned into a single by Peyton Senner, Deichmann came home on an infield throwing error to open the scoring. Jarett Gongora’s RBI ground out put Brother Martin ahead 2-0.
Brice Johnston and Jacob Seward walked to load the bases, and then Daniel Lahare hit a three-run double to center field to give the Crusaders a 5-0 lead. Cody Ducote, Brice Johnston and Blake Battle all added RBIs and Luke Bernard scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-0 in the fourth.
Steven Farris put together a nice outing allowing just one hit, two walks and five strike outs. Farris never faced more than four batters in an inning.
The Crusaders are now 13-2 on the season and play next at Hahnville on Thursday at 4:00 pm.
