Crusader Basketball Season Comes to an End

IMG_0089The 5th seeded Brother Martin Crusaders fell one victory short of a second consecutive trip to the semifinals and extending its pursuit of a seventh state title last night in a tough 74-61 loss to the 4th seeded East Ascension Spartans on the road.  After falling behind 9-0 early in the first quarter, the Crusaders were unable to climb all the way back into the game despite making some great runs to make the game interesting.  Brother Martin got within five points at 49-44 on a Jordan Cornish field goal with 3:46 remaining in the third quarter, but that was as close as the Crusaders would get.

Senior guard Jabbar Singleton hit five 3-pointers to lead all Crusader scorers with 21 points. Senior center Jordan Lumpkins had 14 points while senior guard Jalen Gray and junior guard Jordan Cornish had 10 apiece.

The Crusaders finished the season with an overall record of 29-7.  Congratulations on a great playoff run and an excellent season.
