Crusader Basketball Concludes Season at State Semifinals

The Crusader Basketball season ended in the state semifinals at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Thursday, March 7, 2019.  Although the team held the St. Augustine Purple Knights to a season-low 42 points, the team could not overcome shooting 25% from the field and being out-rebounded by 17 in the state semi-finals.  The final score was 42 to 40.  First-team, all-district selection T.J. Small '20 led the Crusaders with 14 points.  Seniors Dillon Delatte and Victor Tomlinson added 13 points and 8 points.

The team concluded the season with a 20 and 17 record; however, the team played its best ball late by winning six of its final seven games.  In the state quarterfinals, the Crusaders traveled to Holy Cross and won in overtime, 60 -57.  Prior to that, the Crusaders defeated Archbishop Rummel, 49 - 25, in a playoff game in the Conlin Gym.

The team rallied around its senior leadership at the end of the season.  This year's seniors were Peter Schneller (captain), Dillon Delatte, Victor Tomlinson, Spencer Tillman, and Javier Perez.  In addition, the team had four extremely important senior student managers:  Dylan Williams, Will Oertling, Connor Craig, and Jacob Leblanc.
