The Brother Martin baseball team started the season strong with a sweep of the weekend to win the Brother Martin Tournament this past weekend. The action started Thursday night against St. Paul’s with a 5-0 win. Friday night, the Crusaders shut out the West Ouachita Chiefs from West Monroe 1-0. On Saturday, Brother Martin won a double header beating Riverside 10-0 and Fontainebleau 5-0. The Crusader pitching staff completed the weekend with a dominant performance throwing 26 scoreless innings. The staff was led by senior Tyler Zamjahn. Junior shortstop and pitcher Greg Deichmann, an LSU commitment, had a pair of home runs against Riverside. The second home run was a walk-off grand slam to end the game.
The team returns to action tomorrow at East Ascension against East Ascension.
