After a week worth of rain, Brother Martin (17-10) started the weekend making up the Rummel Raider game from the previous week. The Crusaders grabbed an early one run lead in the bottom of the first inning after scoring on an RBI single by Jonathan Parker. The team plated another run in the bottom of the fourth to secure the 2-0 win.
Blair Frederick tossed the shutout win for the Crusaders in seven innings of work. Frederick struck out 10 batters and allowed no earned runs on two hits. Frederick lost his no-hit bid in the seventh inning on a two-out double by a Raider batter.
On Sunday, eight hits didn’t prove to be enough for Brother Martin as it lost 9-8 in a shootout to Archbishop Shaw. The two District 9-5A opponents traded leads six times before the game’s last lead went to Archbishop Shaw thanks to a two run ninth inning rally.
