The Crusader baseball team is ranked #1 in the 2013 New Orleans area preseason baseball rankings by NOLA.com. Returning for the Crusaders are seven position players, three solid starting pitchers, and standout players junior shortstop Gregory Deichmann, senior catcher Cody Ducote and senior center fielder Jacob Seward.
The junior shortstop, Gregory Deichmann, has been chosen as preseason Player of the Year by NOLA.com and The Times-Picayune after leading the team last year in homers, ranked second in RBIs and third in batting averages.
Brother Martin has 3 players on the 2013 preseason All-New Orleans baseball team for large schools.
The Crusaders open their season at 7 p.m. Thursday against Ruston at UNO’s Privateer Park.
