Brother Martin beat Edna Karr 9-3 in seven innings on Saturday at Farley Field after a five-run explosion in the fourth inning.
After a scoreless first three innings, the Crusaders opened things up in the fourth scoring five runs on a two-run single by Kevin Stretzinger, an error, and a two-run single by Kyler Johnston.
The Crusaders and the Cougars traded runs in the fifth inning scoring two runs a piece. The Cougars plated another run in the top of the sixth, but the Crusaders answered with two runs of their own.
Edna Karr’s lineup had no answer for Kevin Plunkett. Plunkett gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of relief work.
Leading the charge for the Crusaders was Jonathan Parker (3-4, 1 RBI), Kyler Johnston (1-3, 2 RBI), and Kevin Stretzinger (1-2, 2RBI).
Luke Bernard got the win for the Crusaders striking out seven while walking three and surrendering five hits.
The Crusaders will travel to Archbishop Shaw on Tuesday to face the Eagles at 4 p.m.
