Read Senior Michael Lopez’s perspective on the Crusader Marching Band in Mardi Gras.
Each year, the Brother Martin Crusader Band marches in three Mardi Gras parades. This year, the band will be seen in Endymion, Krewe d’Etat, and Caesar, performing renowned New Orleans tunes such as “Mardi Gras Mambo” and “Bourbon Street Parade.” All through January, the band tirelessly prepared by marching the streets around Brother Martin High School in “block formation” and memorized all eleven songs that will be performed in the parades. All of the hard work, effort, and dedication that goes into preparing to march is done so to meet the high standards that this band has been recognized for decades.
