In late October,  members of the 1971 football team gathered with coaches and guests for a night of reminiscing and camaraderie at the home of the Paul Ippolito '73. Paul and Milton Trainor '73 helped organized this special night and even welcomed former Coaches Chubby Marks ’54 SA and Dan Conlin. The evening was also full of ‘crimson and gold’ spirit for these alumni who won the 1971 District and State Championships. Under the leadership of Head Coach Bob Conlin and Coach Marks, the Crusaders finished the 1971 season with a record of 13-1. In December of '71, these "Men Who Never Say Die" earned their title on the gridiron as they defeated the St. Augustine Purple Knights by a score of 23-0 in front of a capacity crowd at Tad Gormley Stadium.
