Varsity Cross Country harriers had a great weekend meet in Plain Dealing, La., taking first place and fourth place at the Airline Cross Country Festival.
Because of the distance of the trip, the team chose 14 athletes to attend the meet. The meet took place at Oakland Plantation Country Club on an extremely hilly golf course, likely the most challenging cross country course the team will see all year. The team divided into two groups, “A” team and a “B” team.
The “A” team captured the victory over a very tough Airline High School team 32-44, and the “B” team finished fourth. Representing the “A” team was Hunter Appleton – 1st, Hayden Courrege’ – 3rd, Cade Litolff – 9th, Tyler Epps – 10th, Michael Champagne – 12th, Ben Crowley – 14th, and Jeremy Baier – 15th.
The following students competed as the “B” team: Gabe Costa, Ethan Meydrich, Jackson Vicknair, Ethan Dupas, Cody Dick, Jackson Anuszkiewicz, and Abe Bernstein.
According to Head Coach Drew Haro, the trip was a welcomed opportunity “for our team to grow closer as well as evaluate how well we are doing the things we need to do to continue to be successful this season,” he said. Now, the team looks forward to concentrating on efforts closer to home and build on their momentum.
Congrats to our harriers!
