"NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Sports is proud to once again partner with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association for live streaming of the Ochsner LHSAA Bowling Championship Thursday and Friday.
For Thursday’s team events at Premier Lanes Entertainment Center in Gonzales, coverage begins at 1:35 p.m. and includes both the girls and boys championship matches. Friday’s first-time coverage of the singles event and its new final round begins at 1:20 p.m. from All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge. CCS’ Ken Trahan and Lenny Vangilder will describe the action.
Finalists in the team events will be decided from semifinals contested at Premier Thursday morning. In the girls bracket, three-time semifinalist and top-seeded Dutchtown meets 2021 champion Archbishop Chapelle, while defending champ Denham Springs takes on H.L. Bourgeois. The boys matchups feature an all-Bayou region matchup of top-seeded and undefeated Central Lafourche against H.L. Bourgeois, along with unbeaten East Ascension taking on four-time defending champion Brother Martin.
Early-round action in both the boys and girls brackets was contested last week at Creole Lanes in Houma, AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner and All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge, trimming the fields from 32 boys and 16 girls teams down to the semifinalists in each bracket.
The singles championship will begin with the highest ranked bowlers in the state – 80 boys and 48 girls – based on regular-season averages. After a qualifying round, the field will be trimmed to the top six in each division for the live streamed final, which will feature a modified stepladder bracket.
Dutchtown’s Preston West broke his own state boys’ season average record at 238, while Airline’s Paris Mendones brings in the highest girls average of 215.
This is the fourth consecutive LHSAA bowling championship live streamed by Crescent City Sports, joining the 2019, 2021 and 2022 events. The 2020 championship was cancelled because of COVID-19.
The Crescent City Sports team is in its 12th season of producing live broadcasts for television and internet, having produced more than 400 live streams since 2012, and is continuing its extensive commitment to prep sports coverage on its website for 2022-23."
