Crescent City Sports: “Brother Martin, Dominican win Mount Carmel Cub Run”

Congratulations to the varsity and junior varsity cross country teams for winning the Mount Carmel Cub Run this weekend in City Park. The varsity again employed its tight team pack strategy to win the meet with a low score of 27 points. The junior varsity filled all of the slots in the top 10 and won the meet with a perfect score of 15 points.

A pair of local teams asserted themselves on the Cross Country front Saturday.

Brother Martin and Dominican scored solid victories in the Mount Carmel Cub Run in City Park, covering three miles.

The Crusaders easily outdistanced Mandeville for the win with Belle Chasse third, Holy Cross fourth and Parkview Baptist fifth.

Dominican was victorious on the girls side with Vandebilt Catholic second and E.D. White Catholic third. Mount Carmel Academy was fourth and Newman was fifth.

Kelsey Major of Dominican, the defending state cross country champion, won the individual title in a time of 18:41. Ava Hartman of Newman was second.

This was truly a great day for the Crusader Harrier program as, among the varsity and junior varsity's accomplishments, the junior high squad finished the day with numerous personal bests on the 2-mile course as well. Great run, and "keep training, guys!"
