Brother Martin Drum Major Beau Bujol, Class of 2014, has been selected as a 2014 U.S. Army All-American marching band musician. Each year since 2011, a Brother Martin student has been selected as a U.S. Army All-American band member. Beau was nominated during his junior year by Mr. Dominic Caronna ’85. He submitted an audition tape and application to the National Association for Music Education in order to qualify for this honor. Beau, one of only 125 band and color guard members selected in this national competition, will perform the piccolo at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl’s half-time show on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in San Antonio at the Alamodome.
Beau began playing flute in the St. Catherine of Siena School Band in third grade under the direction of Carl Hellmers as a part of the Archdiocesan Band Program. Mr. Hellmers retired after two years and Ward Smith became Beau’s teacher in fifth grade and Beau remained under his direction for three years before enrolling at Brother Martin.
