Grandparents Days are a great tradition at Brother Martin and are thoroughly enjoyed by students and their loved ones. On October 23 and 24 the Class of 2022 welcomed grandparents to the Brother Martin campus for their annual lunch and friendly visit. While the Class of 2021 had a successful lunch in September, our newest Crusaders enjoyed this event even more since it was their first Grandparents Day experience. Members of the Class of 2022 treated their grandparent(s) to lunch in the Benson Mall during their Unstructured Period. Patrick Donovan ’22 expressed his excitement by saying that “the environment here is so friendly that no matter what grade level you are, there will always be a friend nearby. I cannot express how happy I am here at Brother Martin.”
Grandparents also enjoyed their visit by shopping at the Bookstore and by even running into old and new friends. Coach “Emile” Chubby Marks (Patrick ’22) and Mrs. Dionne Colletti (Carson ’22 and Jackson ’18), who were both employees at Brother Martin, took time to catch up and pose for a photo with their families. They both worked at Brother Martin for over 30 years and now have grandchildren in school.
Additional guests reminisced about their days at St. Aloysius and/or Cor Jesu as they viewed the Alumni Memorabilia and walked the hallways. Mr. Bernard D’Arcangelo was present with his wife, Mary Rose. He was excited to be at school as a proud grandfather of Nicholas D’ Arcangelo ’22 and Avan Gittelson ’19, but also as a St. Aloysius graduate from the Class of 1949. In addition, Ms. Rowena Shepherd (Ashton ’22), who is a 100 years old, was also in attendance with her family.
We enjoyed hosting a great lunch, and we hope they had a great time, too!
The next Grandparents Days will be November 13 for the sophomores, December 4 for juniors, and December 11 for the seniors.
