Class of 2020 Participates in Voter Registration Drive

Last week, The Social Studies Department, in association with the Engaging New Voices and Voters (ENVV), conducted a Voter Registration Drive for our senior Crusaders. ENVV is a non-Partisan Coalition dedicated to registering voters, informing voters about issues related to the elections, and getting out the vote (GOTV).  Eligible members of the Class of 2020 were invited to the Benson Mall, where Mr. Walter Goodwin of the ENVV spoke of the importance of voting in local and state elections. Students were given voter registration forms and offered assistance from Mr. Goodwin, along with other ENVV members, and Mr. Christopher Vicknair, Brother Martin Social Studies Department Chair, in completing the forms.

Asked about the effort, Mr. Vicknair said, "We registered about 125 Seniors!   I was very impressed with how our guys approached voter registration. I also really appreciate the Lower 9th Ward Voter's Coalition and the other member groups of the ENVV reaching out to us to participate and the Civics teachers' help in organizing this day for our students."
