Class of 2019 Welcomes Grandparents onto Campus

DSC06419On Monday, December 4, Members of the Class of 2019 welcomed their grandparent(s) to campus for their annual lunch and visit in the Benson Mall. The students treated their grandparent(s) to lunch and got a chance to catch up with their loved ones during their unstructured period. All of the tables were full with conversation and excitement as the juniors were able to show their grandparent(s) around campus.

Grandparents enjoyed their visit by stopping at the Bookstore and getting their photos taken with their grandsons by Romaguera Photography. The group shots were photographed by Ralph Romaguera, Jr. ’90. The grandparents even walked away with a little gift from Brother Martin, as well! Each guest received Brother Martin pot holders upon arrival.

One of our juniors, Bailey Stretzinger ’19, was fortunate enough to have his annual Grandparents Day lunch with his grandfather, George Stretzinger ’67 SA. “This is great. This is my fifth Grandparents Day experience and it is so nice to come back to school each time. It brings back so many memories. I really love all of the teachers, coaches and staff. I also love getting to know the kids, from athletic events, and getting a chance to see them when I come to campus for this event,” said Stretzinger.

Mr. Stretzinger’s grandson, Bailey ’19, is currently on the wrestling team and Mr. Stretzinger is very involved with the team. He is a friendly face at all of the matches that he is able to attend for the Crusaders. Bailey Stretzinger ’19 commented, “It’s really fun to sit down and have a nice lunch with my grandpa and meet all of the nice people that he knows at school.”

On behalf of Brother Martin, we enjoyed hosting a great lunch for our students and their family members. We hope all of the guests and their grandsons had a great time together on campus!

The last Grandparents Day, for this year, will be Monday, December 11 in the Brother Mark Thornton Terrace for the seniors.
