On Friday, August 19, 2016, the 10th grade class had their opening of the new school year meeting. Mr. Ryan Gallagher ‘00, Assistant Principal for Discipline and Attendance, praised the 10th grade for a great first week and paying attention to the details like grooming and uniforms. He provided information on new Student Handbook policies including students that have cell phones at school. Mr. Michael Lynn ‘04, Assistant Disciplinarian, reminded the class of the importance regular attendance as a tool for better academic success.
Miss Kelly Wild, College Advisor, also stressed the importance of maintaining and keeping a strong GPA, so students will have more ease in gaining admission to colleges and universities. The 10th grade year is one of the most critical in improving GPAs; students need to commit to academics by thinking about their future. Mr. Griffin Gremillion reviewed the Guidance Department’s role for the Class of 2019. Finally, Mr. Matthew Lambert ‘98 invited the students to join the College Run trip in the Summer of 2017.
The students left the meeting ready to be more involved at Brother Martin in sports, extracurriculars, and academics!
