The following was written by Brother Martin junior Wyatt Hutchins '26 for the Clarion Herald:

"On the evening of April 4, as Brother Martin’s Solidarity SleepOut began with Mass, Oblate Father Tony Rigoli guided over 30 of my fellow Crusaders in a reflection on Matthew 25 and the works of mercy. He told stories of his time serving homeless youth at Covenant House and explained that God loves everyone and that we are all worthy of love and dignity, regardless of our state in life.

As fellow human beings made in the image of God, we have a responsibility to fight for the least of our brothers and sisters, which is exactly why we were gathered that night for Brother Martin’s Solidarity SleepOut in support of Covenant House.

For more than 30 years, Covenant House has tirelessly worked to provide shelter, support and hope to homeless and at-risk young people, ages 16-22. To support their incredible work, my classmates and I joined Brother Martin’s Solidarity SleepOut. We agreed to give up the comfort of our beds for one night and, instead, sleep in our school’s backyard on a cardboard box with nothing but a sleeping bag.

When I heard about this event in a Crusaders for Life and Justice club meeting, I knew this was a huge opportunity for our community of fortunate families to see how the poor and vulnerable experience day-to-day life..."
