Chorus Members Score Superior at LMEA Solo & Ensemble Assessment

On Tuesday, the following students participated in the Louisiana Music Educators Association Solo & Ensemble Assessment at Chapelle High School: Cole Chauvin ‘21, Matthew DeLaune ‘24, Daniel Erdozain ‘23, Hunter Nastasi ‘22, Kolbe Peters ‘23, Dylan Rhoton ‘24, and Jake Spellman ‘20.

These students performed their prepared solo selections for a judge. Their selections were evaluated according to the following criteria: tone, intonation, diction, technique, interpretation, and musical effect. Each performance was then rated on a scale from I to V, with I representing a superior performance.

The following solo performances received a superior rating from the judge: 

  • “Lonely House” - Matthew DeLaune
  • “Panis Angelicus” - Daniel Erdozain
  • “The Little Irish Girl” - Hunter Nastasi
  • “Deep River” - Kolbe Peters
  • “Brother Will, Brother John” - Dylan Rhoton
  • “Wayfaring Stranger” - Jake Spellman

The following solo performance received an excellent rating from the judge:

  • “Beautiful Dreamer” - Cole Chauvin

Singers who received superior ratings are eligible to proceed to the State Vocal Rally in April at LSU.
