On April 27, the Chorus participated in the LMEA Regional Music Performance Assessment at Central Lafourche High School. The Chorus received the Sweepstakes award for straight superior ratings in concert performance and in sight reading. Their concert performance was assessed using the following criteria: tone, intonation, diction, technique, balance, interpretation, and musical effect. The group received superior ratings from all three judges for their concert performance. The singers received commendations from the judges for their tone, their attention to detail, and their preparation.
The sight reading component of the assessment required the group to correctly perform a musical selection at sight. The sight reading performance was assessed using the following criteria: rhythmic precision, melodic and harmonic accuracy, and musicianship fundamentals. The group received a superior rating from the sight reading judge as well. The sight reading judge commended the group for their rhythmic precision, their phrasing, and their response to their director.
Congratulations to the Chorus on their ‘Superior’ achievement!
