LSU, The University of Alabama, and Brother Martin cheerleading squads came together this weekend in the Conlin Gymnasium to practice for their upcoming national competitions. The two college teams, in town for the BCS game, used our gym for timely practice before heading to Orlando next week for the UCS National Collegiate Cheerleading Championships. The LSU Team features three Crusader graduates: Scott Swiler, Alex Englehardt, and Michael Vinsanau. The Crusaders also performed their competition routine, filled with impressive stunts, tumbling, and cheering, in preparation for their February trip to Orlando for the UCS National High School Cheerleader Championships. The practice/exhibition featured a donation from each spectator that will go to help allay medical costs for LSU’s cheerleader coach, Chico, who was involved in a debilitating boating accident last year. Thanks to the Crusaders’ coach Miss Jessica Spitale and to the Crusader cheerleader community for organizing this fundraiser and practice opportunity for these nationally-ranked teams!
