To celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Brother Martin community came together for a special liturgy on Friday morning. Father Richard Sudlik, Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, presided at the Mass. Fr. Sudlik is also the Director of Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Throughout the celebration, Fr. Sudlik and our student readers reiterated how powerful the grace of God is in our life and most importantly in Mary’s life. Today, during the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Fr. Sudlik reminded us all that, “we are celebrating the belief, in the Church, that Mary was without sin her entire life.” We are challenged to live a life, like Mary, without sin and denying temptation everyday.
Fr. Sudlik spoke of his favorite quote, “Because we are human it is inevitable that we sin, but no particular thing in life is inevitable.” As we reflect during this Advent season, may we all remember these words and accept the challenge to continue to deny temptation and live a grace-filled life, such as our Mother Mary did, everyday.
