In July, new and former campers returned to Brother Martin’s campus for the 2017 Brother Martin Basketball Camp. This year varsity head basketball coach Chris Biehl directed the camp. Concerning camp activities, Biehl said, “We had a phenomenal week of camp. The campers were enthusiastic from Monday until the end on Friday. The coaches and I were very impressed with the level of talent. We put an emphasis on never quitting and working hard at improving individual weaknesses.”
Coaches Jeffrey Lupo ’92, Tommy Smith ’71, and Russ Williams were also available to assist in any instruction and in any coaching for the campers. Over 100 boys ranging from 6 -13 years old attended the camp and were eager to learn new techniques and fundamentals of the game. Throughout the week, members of the Brother Martin basketball team worked with the boys through various drills that included three on three games, free throw competitions, and more. In conclusion, the campers showcased their talent to family and friends by performing several drills. An awards ceremony then ended the camp.
Thanks to the Brother Martin basketball program and the Athletics Department for a great first session of basketball camp. Please check back next spring for information on our various camps at Brother Martin.
