With Louisiana having recently moved into Phase III, we are hoping that the city of New Orleans will determine that it is safe and prudent to do the same in a short period of time.
After a lot of prayer, thoughtful discussions, feedback, and planning, our leadership team and administration have decided that we will return to learning and instruction on campus at full capacity once Orleans Parish has transitioned into Phase III.
While we do not have a timeline from the city, it is our hope that we will be able to start the second quarter on Monday, October 12th at full capacity on campus.
We will still operate with a number of restrictions, including requiring temperature checks, face coverings, proper hygiene, and one-way traffic patterns. We will continue to require physical distancing to the “maximum extent possible” as set forth by the State Department of Education, but the recommendation of six feet between desks and chairs throughout campus will no longer be a viable option. While this may increase the potential for having more students and faculty quarantined at home, we are confident that we can operate safely at full capacity.
You will receive an updated “Return to Learning Plan” with more details regarding various procedures - particularly as it relates to maximum group sizes and class time schedules - prior to our making this transition.
