Brother Martin’s 2025 Great Read is Lomong’s “Running for My Life”

"Running for My Life is not a story about Africa or track and field athletics. It is about outrunning the devil and achieving the impossible faith, diligence, and the desire to give back."

Brother Martin High School's 2025 Great Read is "Running for My Life: One Lost Boy's Journey from the Killing Fields of Sudan to the Olympic Games" by Lopez Lomong. We are excited for our Crusaders to read this ultimately inspiring story of a man whose faith helped him not to give up in the face of desolation, which eventually led to fulfilling his dream as an Olympic runner.

Our annual Great Read program is one way we challenge our Crusaders in their pursuit of Academic Excellence, all for the purpose of Forming Young Men for Life.

Fine Arts Class Portrait

Crusaders in Mrs. Quigley's Fine Arts class recently worked as a team to create a collage portrait of Lopez Lomong, the author of our 2025 Great Read. Mr. Lomong's portrait is hanging up alongside other portraits of prominent social justice figures in the Thomas F. and Elaine P. Ridgley Fine Arts and Athletic Center.
