Congratulations to the Brother Martin Wrestling Team for their success at the Trey Culotta Invitational, which took place over the Christmas holiday.
The Brother Martin Wrestling Team was victorious over twenty-four other teams from across eight states. Anthony Oubre (106) and Richie Clementi (132) were the team's individual champions. Twelve of fourteen scoring Crusader wrestlers earned a top-four placement. Dr. Van and Ms. Mimi Culotta were in attendance both days and presented the awards to the medal winners. On day one, the Brother Martin Alumni Choir lent their angelic voices in singing the National Anthem to begin the tournament.
Since its inception in 2000, the Trey Culotta Invitational has occupied a special place in the wrestling schedule for Southeast Louisiana. As a tournament that has sought out the best teams and the best wrestlers, the Trey Culotta Invitational has seen more than its fair share of great wrestling, exceptional champions, and dramatic bouts. It has always been the hope of Brother Martin High School and the Culotta family that each wrestler, spectator, or other person involved in the tournament will take away some of the qualities of Trey Culotta ’97 himself, a young man known as having the “heart of a lion.”
