On Thursday, November 3, 2022, we were pleased to host our annual Brother Martin Open House for approximately 470 6th through 8th-grade future Crusaders and their families.
The evening began with guests being greeted warmly as they entered the Thomas F. and Elaine P. Ridgley Fine Arts & Athletic Center. They then equipped themselves with their name tags as they walked through the Brother Mark Thornton Terrace. Then, our guests strolled through the backyard as the Brother Martin drumline entertained them on their route to the James B. Branton Chapel, where August Frederick '27 spoke about his own Brother Martin Open House experience to kick off the exciting evening. After a moving prayer, Principal Ryan Gallagher ’00 and President Gregory Rando '77 spoke of the mission statement of Brother Martin High School and shared the philosophy of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart which is rooted in a holistic approach to education that is enriched in Religious Values, Friendly Discipline, Academic Excellence, and Personal Attention, all in pursuit of forming the young men in our care for life.
Daniel Falk '24 then shared a powerful reflection on his time at Brother Martin, remarking on the Personal Attention he has experienced during his time as a Crusader: "One aspect of Brother Martin that stands out to me is the welcoming environment of the school that starts with the teachers. When I need help in a challenging class, I know I have many teachers who will jump at the opportunity to offer me assistance in any way I need. Whether by meeting with my teacher before school or by visiting the Formation Center where students of all levels can seek individual assistance throughout the day, I have always been met by faculty members who are ready to meet my specific needs. Every teacher here at Brother Martin exemplifies this same willingness to assist students with Personal Attention, which is one of many reasons Brother Martin is a great fit for me."
Guests were then escorted from the Branton Chapel where Assistant Principal for Admissions Carlos Bogran III ’99 helped to pair them with their personal tour guide. One-on-one tours were provided by current Brother Martin students who showcased our state-of-the-art facilities and shared important information about our school’s history, academic course offerings and schedule, extracurricular opportunities, athletics interests, and a host of other topics.
We would like to offer a special thanks to Mr. Carlos Bogran III '99, Assistant Principal for Admissions, Ms. Patty Larkin, Administrative Assistant for Admissions, and Mrs. Megan Whalen, Director of Community Relations, for spearheading these Open House efforts. Thank you as well to all of our guests, students, parents, alumni, and faculty for making our Open House the tremendous success it was!
