The Brother Martin Social Justice Committee hosted an open forum for students, faculty, and staff during lunch periods this Wednesday, March 30th, 2022. Facilitated by various religion, social studies, and NJROTC faculty members, these forums used the current conflict as a teachable moment in order to address students' questions about Russia's motives, the Ukrainian response, and the practical and moral role of other nations, including NATO and the United States. Students raised questions about military strategy, humanitarian needs, and geopolitical objectives as well as explored the moral complexities of this conflict. The Social Justice Committee aims to provide all students and faculty/staff with an experience that promotes equality, diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Exploring the conditions of our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and in Russia is a tangible way to promote education and understanding, rooted in the Catholic Church's social teachings.
