Brother Martin Senior bandsman Caden Shaver '24 has been recruited by the Fat City Drum Corps, the "unofficial Drumline of the New Orleans Saints!" To become a member of the drumline, Caden needed to audition.

"Going into my audition I was making sure I wasn’t overwhelmed or nervous and that I had a clear mind. While auditioning, I made sure to listen to every word the guys were saying. I made sure I was focusing on technique and that I was playing in time with the other guys. Doing this allowed me to stay calm and not tense up and show that I am confident in my playing and why they should put me on the line."

Where did he learn to stay calm under pressure?

"If it weren’t for the Brother Martin Band and Drumline, none of this would have been possible. I am so grateful to have such amazing instructors and mentors such as Mr. Bailey and Mr. Caronna who have pushed me to be the very best I can be. The Drumline helps me keep my chops up and to keep improving, learning to play with all types of people with different levels of experience, how to adapt, and so much more. The Brother Martin Band and Drumline are truly unmatched and unlike any other across schools in Louisiana."

Caden put in the work on and off campus to achieve his dreams and fulfil his God-given potential. We are so proud of him!
