Congratulations to Brother Martin Senior John Oliver Steigner ’27 for earning a perfect 36 composite score on the September 2026 ACT! This is an impressive achievement as fewer than 0.3% of students tested annually earn a 36 on the ACT. Earlier this year, John Oliver was also recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist for his performance on the PSAT.
In addition to these notable academic achievements, John Oliver has already earned several accolades during his high school career. He is an Academic Letterman on the Principal’s Honor Roll and an AP Scholar with Honor. John Oliver has also participated in the District and State Literary Rally in multiple subjects.
John Oliver’s accomplishments extend beyond the classroom as he is actively involved in the Pen and Sword Literary Magazine, Excalibur National Honor Society for Excellence in Science, National Honor Society, and the Student Recruiting team. His leadership is evident in all of these organizations, and it is highlighted in his role as captain of the Crusader Rugby Team.
John Oliver credits his parents with instilling in him the value of knowledge and the importance of education. He believes the examples they provided him when he was younger have promoted his constant pursuit of lifelong learning. He also commented, “My Honors Physics class and the lessons I learned there really resonated with me. The critical thinking skills I developed in that course translated to both the PSAT and ACT, and I know they will be essential in my postsecondary studies.”
John Oliver, who is a Brother Martin Academic Scholarship recipient, graduated from Christian Brothers School before coming to Brother Martin for 8th grade. Next year, he hopes to attend Notre Dame or Georgia Tech to study physics or aerospace engineering.
Congratulations on this remarkable achievement, John Oliver!
