Congratulations to Brother Martin Senior Gerard Adam IV ’27 for earning a perfect 36 composite score on the October 2026 ACT! This is an impressive achievement as fewer than 0.3% of students tested annually earn a 36 on the ACT. Earlier this year, Gerard was also recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist for his performance on the PSAT.
In addition to these impressive academic achievements, Gerard has already earned several accolades during his high school career, including earning an Academic Letterman designation on the Principal’s Honor Roll and being recognized as an AP Scholar with Honor, a recognition granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
Gerard’s accomplishments extend beyond the classroom as he is actively involved in the Culinary Crusaders, the Excalibur National Honor Society for Excellence in Science, the National Honor Society, the Rugby Team, and Student Ambassadors. Although Gerard’s interests are varied, he is most passionate about wrestling. Gerard serves as one of the captains of the Crusader Wrestling Team, and his leadership, enthusiasm, and work ethic are obvious to teammates and coaches alike. According to assistant wrestling coach Wade Ripple, “Gerard is one of our most consistent wrestlers. He shows up every day and works. He has always trusted the process of getting a little better each day, and that is evident in his wrestling and academic achievements.”
When asked about his preparation for the ACT, Gerard commented, “Brother Martin has taught me resilience. I had to learn mental resilience to be a good wrestler and a successful student. Those lessons came on the mat in the wrestling room and in classes like Mr. Rhodes’s Honors Biology course. That resilience was crucial when preparing for all of my standardized tests — AP tests, the PSAT, and the ACT.” Gerard went on to joke about his competitive spirit and said, “I couldn’t let my friends beat me,” referring to his ACT score.
Gerard, who is a Brother Martin Academic Scholarship recipient, graduated from Christian Brothers School before coming to Brother Martin for 8th grade. Next year, Gerard hopes to attend Duke University, the University of Michigan, or the University of Alabama, and he would like to major in environmental engineering.
Congratulations on your outstanding achievement, Gerard!
