Recently, several experts in coastal Louisiana comprised a panel for a brief overview of their specific work and for a question/answer session for students in English I Honors and World Geography Honors. Victor Landry III '86, who manages the Intercoastal Waterway for the Corps of Engineers, Simone Maloz, Campaign Director for Restore the Mississippi River Delta, John Snell, a Fox 8 news anchor and producer, Darrah Bach, Oyster Shell Recycling Program Manager for the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, Troy Sehlinger '08, a marine biologist for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and Kristi Trail, Executive Director of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, spoke about their work with coastal issues and answered student questions about the various strategies for helping slow coastal erosion and for reclaiming wetlands. This panel is one of a series of experiences for these students as they prepare a comprehensive report on a specific restoration project.

We would like to thank these local scientists, reporters, and activists for visiting our campus and offering their expertise in the education of our Crusaders!
