Brother Martin Crusaders for Life and Justice club moderator, Mr. Christopher McCabe, describes the selfless mission of our Crusaders as they took part in our Solidarity Sleep Out for Covenant house:

"Last Friday night, around 35 students and teachers gave up the comfort of their beds for a night and slept on cardboard boxes in our backyard to raise awareness about homelessness in New Orleans. Their actions serve as a clear testament to our Crusader commitment to solidarity with those often overlooked and marginalized in our society. Throughout the evening we learned about homelessness from representatives of Covenant House, heard inspiring stories from people who have lived on our streets, spent time in prayer and reflection, and discovered how we can advocate for a future where everyone has a safe place to sleep.

Our initial fundraising goal for the Sleep Out was $5000. Through the tireless efforts of the Sleep Out participants and the incredible generosity of our Crusader family, we nearly doubled that goal and successfully raised $9,714. This money will go to support Covenant House’s ministry to homeless youth in New Orleans and help them provide the material and emotional needs for some of the most vulnerable people in our city.

Thank you to all who participated and supported the Sleep Out. In particular, thanks to seniors Jack Walker '24 and Josh Cook '24 for their dedicated leadership in making this event a huge success."
