Brother Martin Hernandez, S.C., our school’s namesake, former principal of St. Aloysius College, and past provincial of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, was inducted into the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame on April 15, 2025. The LHSAA notes that, among a select group of nine individuals, he epitomized excellence in high school sports, showcasing the spirit, commitment, and passion that are hallmarks of Louisiana athletics. Additionally, the LHSAA recognized Brother Martin for his induction into the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame in 1980. Brother Martin Hernandez was instrumental in founding the New Orleans Prep League, which includes Catholic, private, and public schools, and he contributed as a member of the Executive Committee of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, representing Catholic, private, and public schools in the New Orleans area.
