Last week, the American Choral Directors Association held its biennial conference in Dallas, Texas. Over 5000 students from around the country submitted auditions to participate in one of four honor choirs. Approximately 1200 students were selected from those auditions. Each of the honor choirs rehearsed for four days before presenting a concert in the Meyerson Symphony Center.
Jack Norwood '27 was selected to sing in the 7-10 Tenor-Bass Honor Choir, which was under the direction of Randy Stenson. Mr. Stenson is a member of the faculty of the Tokyo International Music School. The choir presented the premiere performance of Ragnarök by Randall Johnson as part of their concert.
Ramon Ramos '25 was selected to sing in the 11-12 SATB Honor Choir. The choir was conducted by Chris Maunu, who is the Artistic Director of the Pacific Youth Choir. The program included the premiere of The Summit is Nigh by Zanaida Robles, and a performance of Mr. Maunu’s Silentium.
