On Tuesday, September 17th, our Brother Martin school community came together to celebrate the life of Mr. August ‘Chris’ Caboni. We tragically lost our beloved faculty member on Saturday, August 31, 2019. Our celebrant for this liturgy was School Chaplain, Father Paul Hart ‘70.
Mr. Caboni was a 1962 graduate of Holy Cross High School, and he earned his undergraduate degree from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas in 1966. A lifelong learner, Mr. Caboni earned his Master's degree in Education from Loyola University, New Orleans.
We were blessed to experience Mr. Caboni’s humility, peace, and patience every day as a part of our faculty. In recent years, Mr. Caboni did much of his work behind the scenes, setting up and breaking down science labs in the Meyer building so that our teachers could teach and our students could learn without having to worry about the details. Mr. Caboni took care of the details, and his love for Brother Martin was undeniable.
Joining us at Tuesday’s Liturgy was Mr. Caboni’s lifelong spouse, Dr. Kathleen Quinn and one of their sons Devin Caboni-Quinn along with his wife, Amy. At the conclusion of our Liturgy, two faculty members and three students spoke about the impact that Mr. Caboni had on their life. Freshman Benjamin Code said in his reflection that “He (Mr. Caboni) tried to 'be the face of Jesus' on a daily basis.”
Special thanks to Campus Ministry, Chorus, Band, and all of our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion for making today’s memorial Liturgy for Mr. Caboni special and solemn - just as he was.
