On Thursday, May 12th, the Brother Martin Chorus presented its annual spring concert at Transfiguration of the Lord Church. The program began with members of the fifth period Chorus who sang “Nine Hundred Miles,” the British sea shanty “Away to Rio,” “She Walks in Beauty” (conducted by Mr. Chris Alley ’08), and “Jordan’s Angels,” featuring Mr. Kevin Estoque on cajon.
The next section of the program showcased students who participated in the LMEA Solo and Ensemble Assessment and the LSU State Vocal Rally. Daniel Erdozain performed “Orpheus With His Lute,” Ramon Ramos sang “Go Down, Moses,” and Kolbe Peters completed the set with his performance of “The Vagabond.” All three students received superior ratings on their solo performances at the Solo and Ensemble Assessment.
Members of the sixth period Chorus performed “When Jesus Wept,” “Polly Von,” “The River” (with instrumentalists Mr. Steven Kennedy on banjo and Mr. Kevin Estoque on cajon), “The Pasture,” and “Exsultate Justi in Domino.”
Alumni Chorus members joined the sixth period Chorus to perform “Cornerstone” with featured soloist Michael Navarre.
Chorus alumni and current students were joined by other alumni present to conclude the concert with the singing of “O Sacred Heart.”
We would like to thank Rev. Msgr. Kenneth J. Hedrick and Transfiguration of the Lord Church for hosting our concert as well as all who were in attendance.
