On Thursday, May 8th, the Brother Martin Chorus presented its annual Spring concert at St. Martin de Porres Church. Members of the sixth period chorus began the program with “Si njay njay njay,” a traditional Zulu song. Next, Carson Erdozain, Ashton Lee, Lucas Nguyen, and Benjamin Sonnier were featured in Andrea Ramsey’s “Cover Me With the Night.” This portion of the program concluded with Victor Johnson’s arrangement of “Peace Like a River.”

Students who participated in the LMEA Solo and Ensemble Assessment and the LSU State Vocal Rally performed in the next section of the concert. These singers earned the highest possible rating of superior at both the LMEA Assessment and the State Vocal Rally. Benjamin Levy performed “Jesus, Jesus, Rest Your Head,” Jack Norwood sang “Down by the Sally Gardens,” and Ramon Ramos concluded with “Cielito Lindo.”

Members of the fifth period chorus performed Kurt Bestor’s “Prayer of the Children,” the spiritual “King Jesus is A-Listenin’,” contemporary composer Susan LaBarr’s “Good Timber,” and the lively “Viva Tutti.”
