It was a Friday to remember for the Brother Martin Crusaders! Under the Friday night lights of Tad Gormley Stadium, our Crusader friends and families gathered for the annual Homecoming celebration and football game, closing out Homecoming/Spirit week. It a successful week and a real nail-biter on the gridiron as the Crusaders defeated the Holy Cross Tigers by a score of 29-28, keeping alive the Crusaders’ hopes for a district title.
Prior to the game, students, alumni, parents, and guests gathered for the Homecoming tailgate with food and entertainment provided by the Culinary Crusaders, the Crusader Cook-Off winners, DJ Bryce Barbaro ‘17, and many others. The Crusader Band, Cheerleaders, and NJROTC were also on hand to get all of our fans pumped up before the game. The tailgate culminated with the evening’s first presentation of the 2019 Homecoming Court.
During halftime, our Crusader Band took the field for their performance with the St. Mary's Dominican High School Debs, who were celebrating their 50th anniversary. The bandsmen were accompanied by the Alumni Band who gather for their reunion and Junior High Band Night musicians. After the halftime show, our Homecoming Court was presented with their alumni escorts. Congratulations to our 2019 Homecoming Queen, Miss Chloe Candies and all the other members of the court!
A special congratulations also goes out to Advanced Math teacher and Head Basketball Coach Chris Biehl and Eric Gegenheimer '20 for their recognition as the Cox Communications Student and Teacher of the week. Biehl and Gegenheimer were interviewed and presented with a plaque by Cox during halftime.
Thank you to all the faculty, students, alumni and volunteers for making Homecoming 2019 a success!
