We would like to congratulate the Brother Martin Baseball and Golf Teams for claiming Catholic League titles yesterday evening!
The following information is derived from Nola.com:
"Brother Martin sophomore Reece Roussel doubled home the winning run with two outs in the sixth inning and the Crusaders won sole possession of the Catholic League championship by defeating Jesuit 2-1 Thursday at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
The left-handed hitting Roussel faced a two-strike count when his double landed near the right-field foul line as senior Andrew Sieta came around from second to score.
In the seventh, Jesuit put runners on first and second with one out and sophomore pitcher Patrick Laiche got the final outs needed with a strikeout and a popup caught by the shortstop Sieta behind second base.
Brother Martin (21-6, 10-1 District 9-5A) won the district championship for the first time since 2019."
The golf team completed league play yesterday by defeating Holy Cross by the score of 152-155. The team's record for the 2022 and 2023 regular season was 15-2. The fourteen person team distinguished themselves in every match during the year within a very competitive league. The team was led by:
Juniors: Kyle Traub, Dylan, Mayeau, Matthew Beihl, Adam Rovens
