The Crusaders have added a new addition to the football coaching staff. Jon Norris, former GM and Interim Head Coach of the New Orleans Voodoo, will be joining the Brother Martin staff as the defensive coordinator for the 2013 season. Coach Norris will also be assisting our Physical Education department with strength and conditioning.
Originally from Wales, Coach Norris grew up in Stratford Connecticut. After high school, he played college football at American International College before beginning his career in the NFL. Norris spent time with both the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears during his time in the NFL. He then played in the AFL for 5 years. Coach Norris began his coaching career at the high school level eventually working his way up to the AFL.
Norris came to New Orleans as the General Manager of the New Orleans VooDoo when the Bossier/Shreveport franchise relocated to the Crescent City in September of 2010. In the midst of a difficult season in 2011, Norris was asked to serve as interim head coach of the team for the final four games of the season before returning to his duties as General Manager in 2012. Norris also served as the team’s color analyst for radio and television broadcasts in 2011 and 2012.
Norris hit the ground running this past week at Brother Martin beginning to work on defenses to help against the teams of the legendary Catholic League.
