Bro. Chris Sweeney, S.C. Shares about his Vocation in Africa

Our religion classes were fortunate enough to have Brother Chris Sweeney, S.C. speak with them about his life and vocation in Africa on Monday, December 9th. "A graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Bro. Chris was one of four Brothers from around the Institute chosen by the General Council in Rome as volunteers to begin a new mission endeavor in Amatongas, Mozambique in 2010. Under Brother Chris' leadership and supervision, the four Brothers transformed what had been an abandoned and dilapidated school into an ever-growing and ever-improving resident and day secondary school, now called Sacred Heart Secondary School." (Brothers of the Sacred Heart website)

Bro. Chris spoke to the students about the day-to-day life at Sacred Heart Secondary School and the daily routine of providing food and water for all of the boarders and people from the village who shop at their school's canteen. Along with explaining about his leadership at the school, Bro. Chris reflected on the power of prayer and church in his life in Africa. He explained his process of discernment to become a Brother of the Sacred Heart and encouraged all of our students to listen for 'the call' in their lives, as well.

Thank you to Bro. Chris for taking the time out of his busy schedule, while visiting the States, to talk to all of our religion classes and for showing our Crusaders how powerful your impact is in Amatongas. Ametur Cor Jesu! Ametur Cor Mariae!
