Bowling Wins Second Straight State Title

Copy of 20160322_45The Crusader Bowling team defeated Vandebilt Catholic of Houma in the LHSAA State Finals by a score of 17-10. The 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA Bowling Championships took place Friday, April 8th at the All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge. Crusader bowlers knocked off the previously undefeated Lafayette High 21-6 in the semifinals before advancing to the finals to face Vandebilt Catholic. Max Oertling claimed the gold medal, the highest individual award, after posting a 676 series.

The Crusaders took a 12-4 lead into the last game of the finals and needed only two more points to claim the championship. Jonathan Fernandez’s 202-190 victory in the 10th frame sealed the Crusaders victory. This marks the second consecutive state title for the Crusader Bowling program. The team also finished another season with a PERFECT record of 17-0! In three years the Crusaders’ record is an impressive 50-1.
