Bowlers Advance to Semi Finals

photoBrother Martin started their run for a bowling state title on Thursday with a match against Madison Prep.  The Crusaders started the day off well, clinching the game after the first two sets and finishing with a score of 24-3. Bowlers with high games vs. Madison Prep were: Max Oertling – 211, Kyle Schneider – 201 & 224, Victor Earl – 226, Jeff Fernandez – 234, Austin Bouligny – 215 & 232, and Ryan Henderson – 224 & 234.

In the second match of the day, Brother Martin fell behind 5-3 early in the match after Central took the two-point total pin bonus for the round by seven pins.

The last set still pushed Brother Martin to the edge, as Central managed to win four out of the six matches and the total pin bonus for that round. However, Brother Martin outscored Central in the grand total by 44 pins, giving the Crusaders the three bonus points and the win 15-12.

Helping lead the way in Brother Martin’s game against Central, Austin Bouligny had the team-high game of 255 in the third set. In his other two games, he scored a 221 and a 192. Victor Earl had a 214 game in the first set and a 215 game in the second set. Jeff Fernandez scored a 245 game in the second set.

The Brother Martin bowling team will face Barbe Buccaneers in the Semi-Final round on Saturday, April 12th at 11:00 am.  A win there would take them to the title match at 1:00 pm vs. the winner of the Vandebilt Catholic/Jesuit 11:00 am match.
